Driving Instructions

From San Francisco/Sacramento: Take I-80 East to Auburn and take Elm Ave. exit and go left at top of the exit. Turn left at signal light (El Dorado St.). El Dorado St. turns into Hwy. 49. Descend 2.5 miles, turn right and cross first bridge on the north fork of the American River. Follow signs to Cool. From Redding and Los Angeles: Take I-5 and exit on I-80 East (to Reno), follow I-80 to Auburn, take Elm Ave. exit and turn left on Elm Ave. Turn left at signal light (El Dorado St.). El Dorado St. turns into Hwy. 49. Descend 2.5 miles, turn right and cross first bridge on the north fork of the American River. Follow signs to Cool. The Cool Fire station will be on your right hand side.

From Reno: Take I-80 West and take the Elm Ave. exit and go right at the top of the exit. Turn left at signal light (El Dorado St.). El Dorado St. turns into Hwy. 49. Descend 2.5 miles, turn right and cross first bridge on the north fork of the American River. Follow signs to Cool. Parking Instructions and Protocol

Please READ and view the parking schematic as this is very important!

    • We appreciate your full attention and cooperation on this matter. Please help us and arrive early....this means 30 minutes prior to when you have come in the past! We have many cars to park according to our permit instructions.
    • The race would like to thank Sac Fit for their generosity in being our parking and relief sponsor. Look for inspiring quotes on the portable restrooms in the morning to get you going.
    • Parking is limited. Carpooling is strongly recommended, and the shopping center at the Elm Ave. exit in Auburn is the most convenient meeting place. This will help facilitate registration and reduce congestion in the start/finish areas. DO NOT PARK IN THE COOL BUSINESS DISTRICT.
    • Once you enter on Florian Drive, you will be stopped by one of our awesome parking control staff.
    • They will hand you a Way Too Cool parking pass. This pass is for RUNNERS only. You MUST display on your dash for the entire race. **If you do not display your pass, you are subject to ticket by the Auburn State Parks. The race will not be responsible for your ticket fee.
    • Please listen and follow to any and all instructions given to you.
